Hello, hello, and welcome to the Big Bold Faith Podcast. I am so excited for you to be here today. Whether you're starting out and you're walking in your entrepreneurial path, today is a day that we are going to talk about two critical things. But if it is your first time here, hello, welcome to the Big Bold Faith Podcast. My name is Brittany Durfee. I am your host with the most. As we do life together, as we contend for the faith, as we go on this journey of what God has called us to do, is to be bold in the ministries that He's already put you and placed you in. And so whether you've been walking with God for a little bit, um, or you're just new in your faith, and you're like, where and what do I do? We are called to be bold in Christ. And so, based on the book of Acts, where these men were ordinarily bold for Christ is what I like to say. They were ordinary men and they saw Jesus in their everyday life and their fruit. And that's what we hope to do. Uh, walk boldly for him in the places and the spaces, talk about struggles, talk about life, relationships, what it is, um, and have fun along the way. Can we have fun as believers? I don't want to be a crunchy Christian. I say this to y'all all the time. I do not want to be a crunchy Christian. I want to live boldly. I think that God wants us to have laughter and love and be jovial sometimes, right? Sometimes in our walk and our faith. And so um I pray that as you are here, that God led you here on an assignment to get a good word. He has given me something great to talk about today. Um, and we are focused kind of on this kingdom from newer mindset. So you're a business owner, an aspiring owner, an entrepreneur, um, following the faith. And you're like, God told me to do something new. And now what? What do I do? What like how do I start this thing? First, I'm gonna say that you are not alone, like Michael Jackson. You are not alone. I don't know why I have all these song references, guys, but I do. Here we are. Um, welcome me. Or I may or may not have been on key. Please accept me, give me grace. But that's just that's just who I am. To know me is to know me. And I always have a song and a scripture in my uh in my heart of hearts. Um, but you are not alone in this journey. God has called me into it, and I'm hoping that I can share a little bit of the counsel and the wisdom that he's given me along the last beautiful 12 years of just doing, um, doing the work that he's called me to do. Um and it doesn't look like the traditional ministry, but it is called, uh, but it's not for the faint of heart. God calls us to go into the darkest parts and industries and places and spaces where people just be out here. But he's called you to be there as a vessel, to point people back to Jesus, to be the light, to be the salt, to pray for people's souls, for them to reckon, um, to be changed and to be transformed. And I believe that he has called you specifically um to do it. If you're here, if you know someone, please share this, um, share this episode with someone. We are gonna talk about two critical things when it comes to um entrepreneurship um that you need to succeed. And I've been talking to some entrepreneurs. Uh, if you know, you know. If you don't, uh, that's okay. But I've been kind of wrestling with this and trying to understand. And I'm like, God, what's what's the holdup? What's the challenge? Um, we spoke previously about this thought and process of direction. And so if you had not gone back to go listen, I employ you to go listen to that episode because I think that it is mighty um and informational when you're starting off and you're like, God, okay, you've given me an assignment, you've given me a thing. What do I do? What do I do next? God, um, go back and listen to that. I'm not gonna go rehash it out. But today is most specifically about discipline and consistency. And those are two cuss words for anyone. Anyone, whenever you do anything. I mean, your girl right here has started this gym journey. And if I can be so honest with you guys, I like to share personal stories with me along the way. I don't like going to the gym. I don't. Uh, I'm a very disciplined person though, but going to the gym, that is not my portion. That is not what God has given me. And I had to understand very early that I have to pay for a gym membership, which is something I don't want to do, but I know as far as consistency to get me the results that I want, and not from a vanity perspective, but from a long-term perspective. I told y'all I'm trying to live to be 120. Um, we can talk about that on another day for another podcast. But if I'm trying to live that, then I need to get my body in shape. I need to build muscles, I need my heart to be able to run. I always tell my mama this I say, I've been watching too many movies. Okay, so don't judge me from this, from this depiction of what I'm about to paint. I say, if it's the end of the world and I'm running for my life, I'm running from these zombies or I'm running from uh whatever these demons are gonna look like at the end of time. Um, I want to make sure that I'm prepared. So that's part of my gym, gym regimen. It's like, okay, let me make sure I can outrun these demons, both in the physical and in the spiritual. And uh really, that's not also part of it, but it is kind of part of it. Like, hey, at the end of the, you know, when whenever the time comes, I want to make sure that I can run, run the race to the finish, um, Paul. So knowing discipline and consistency, I think is crucial to the mindset when it comes to being an entrepreneur. A lot of people don't make it as an entrepreneur because they lack these two mindsets or they lack these two principles, really. And I think that when you actually lack these as an entrepreneur, you could lack these as a follower of Christ. Do I think it's funny that discipline and discipleship are kind of rooted in the same word? I don't. But um, we're not gonna spend too much time on the association between that, unless the Holy Spirit tells me something different. But when I think about discipline and consistency, even with the mindset of you not being in business, but you being someone that's after God's heart, when you're going after um having intimacy, having relationship, doing the faith, being a uh disciple, being a follower of Christ, uh, being part of the way, it really requires you to be disciplined in God's word, discipline. Um, and we're not talking about works, y'all. I'm not saying that you're not supposed to pray, but I'm saying that there is a certain level of discipline when it comes to getting to know someone. When I think about when you're in a relationship or when you're having a friendship with someone, there's a discipline of getting having time with them, right? For those people that are single, for those people that are in a marriage. You know the discipline that is required when getting to know your person, when getting to know your friends, there's and and consistency, right? How do we ever think that we're gonna have intimacy with someone when there's no consistency in our relationship, when there's no consistency of us making time and space for them. And that's the same thing when it comes to being an entrepreneur. Um, but before we dive too much into today's episode, because I'm already lit, ready to go. Uh before we dive in, be sure that you're subscribing to the podcast. If you're really enjoying this, um, I would love if you would share this to other people. Um, I believe that this is the time and the season that God is giving words and wisdom through me. And I'm um just being in obedience, really. Um, I take no credit for all, uh, but being a willing vessel and a communicator of what God has done. So if this touches you, you know somebody, if they're an entrepreneur, if this resonates with your soul and you're like, hey girl, check out this episode of the Big Bull Faith Podcast. I don't know if this is on your list. Go ahead, send it to your friends and then your friends' friends, and your mama and them, and your grandmother of them. We try to be very relatable, generational. Um, and if you do not know, we have a new YouTube channel and I'm excited about it. And so hello to all my people that are watching. Um, but make sure that you also subscribe. Make sure you hit the bell so that you never miss a new episode. And if today's message, of course, um speaks to you, drop a comment, share your thoughts. I want to hear how you're applying these principles in your own business. And even if you're not a business owner and you're um you've been called into the corporate ministry, or you I say corporate ministry, but if you've been called into corporate or if you've been called into more of a traditional job set, or even if you're a mom or a father or stay at home, these two principles I think that can really bless people when we actually apply the knowledge that we have, which then becomes wisdom. But we'll get more into that here shortly. But when I think about discipline and when I think about consistency, um, there is um this quote that stands out from Pastor Afonso Bernard, right? Um I had this, I have this kind of scribed on this daily to-do list that I have, just so that I can be mindful of it. And so it goes on the road to achieving your dreams, you must apply discipline, but more importantly, consistently, because without commitment, you'll never start. But without consistency, you'll never finish. And with these two principles of discipline and consistency, you need it to start, but you also need it to finish. And so when God has called you to do something so often, including myself, I'm good at starting. I'm that girl, I am your ultimate person. I am the girl that's at staples, at office depot, at the let's go. Like when I was younger, you guys, as a as a child, when we would start the school year, that would be my favorite time of the year. We would go school shopping, I would get a new notebook, new pencils, new markers, new rulers. Um, what's that TI 89 um calculator? Uh, those things were expensive. But the new year was amazing, right? Doing anything new. I mean, when you start a new meal champ, meal plan, right? When you start a new year, when you start a new activity, we all get really excited to start, right? Um, and Zachariah says, don't despise the small beginning. God rejoices to see uh a new thing start. Yes, God is excited too. But what I think about is that we can't just have dreams without goals, right? Dreams without goals are just dreams at the end of the day. And while dreams are wonderful, they can easily lead to disappointment without the right action. And I have been so guilty of this. I'll have a vision, I'll have a thing. And um, I think I kind of even want to put into these kind of key principles, you have discipline, you have consistency, and you possibly also might be having accountability, right? Discipline requires you to obviously keep your mind focused, obviously, like keep your ideas set on the Lord and having a schedule or even denying yourself some of the normal principles, right? Um, this week I've been looking for different homes and places and spaces. And so there is a discipline that comes with when it comes to stewarding your money. There's a discipline that comes when you're stewarding uh the things that you're eating. I had mentioned earlier about working out. I can't eat everything I want to eat all the time, but I have to allow myself to endure sometimes during the week, Monday through Friday. Usually my set is I'm not allowed to have anything sweet. I mostly should be drinking most of my water, greens, all of those things. So that's very focused and minded, and that I try to try to very much stay on task, go to the gym four times a week. Um, but Saturday and Sunday, I give myself the opportunity to wild out. The funny thing though is my wilding out isn't really wilding out. I will probably, over the course of those two days, have a pint of ice cream, and that's probably mostly a thing. So it's kind of great because what I've done is I've limited myself. And by the end of the week, usually I don't have a taste for all of the desires and all of the things that I had to put down. Same thing when it comes to money. I've saw this really great trend. And some of you guys might know about this. There's certain price points, right? So if you're wanting to buy something, you have to be able to deny yourself or deny your flesh. And if it's like over$20 or over$50 and you want to buy it, you have to give yourself within like five or six hours to come back to see if you still want it. If it's over$200 or something, you have to give yourself a week. And then if it's over a thousand or something, and you give yourself the ability to come back and process to see if that thing that you so much needed in that seat or in that moment, right? That temptation, that desire, that want that you want, like if you really had to have it, because some of us be having that Amazon trigger finger and you just be like, yep, yep, yep, yep, I've been guilty of it. I bought something, forgot I needed to buy something else, and then got four or five packages, all like five different orders. And I'm like, okay, Britney, like you just need to just put it in the cart, walk away, or write down a list, see what you need, um, see within budget. And I think that that's so interesting, though, because when you think about discipline, I think a lot of us um struggle with this and have issues with it. And you look at your money or you look at your finances and you're like, where did it all go? Because you had no discipline, you had no uh discipline underneath your um under a rule, under, under a submission, under a guide. So when you're trying to save money, you're like, oh, okay, I'm just gonna spend all the money, right? Or I'm gonna get what I want, or I'm gonna buy that dress because I want to. And it's like, you're not even denying yourself. So when I think about when you are called into business or when you're called into doing something for God, you no longer are a discipline of nature because you've never denied yourself. You've never denied yourself of saying no, you've never put yourself on a schedule, you've never had a boundary, you've never made yourself like go to sleep at eight so you could wake up at four, so you can be in the presence of the Lord. And so there are certain disciplines that are required as a business owner that will require you not to, specifically this week. Somebody was like, oh, you know, you can buy this for$2,400. Now, can I buy it? Yeah, I can. Am I supposed to buy it in the season? Nah, I'm not supposed to be buying it in the season. God has certain things that He has me setting up. And though I have, I have the resources to do it, I have to think long term of what God has said. So when we think about discipline, when we think about consistency, which will be the next thing that we get into, we also need accountability because we can't do it on our own. And so, what accountability looks like for me, specifically for the gym, is okay, and uh, I'm gonna use my gym as a real example because it's super helpful. So I will go in at the beginning of the week and I will pre-schedule all of all of the four times that I'm supposed to be at the gym, right? My gym has a very cool uh accountability plan where if I don't show up, I owe them$15. Now, I already pay them whatever the monthly fee that I pay them. I will not disclose that at the moment,$100. Then on top of the missed class, I have to pay them an additional$15 if I do not cancel within 24 hours. Now, what is that? That is accountability because if I miss four classes, that is what$60 in a week on top of the$100 and we're not even at the end of the month. So what are we doing? Right? That's the accountability. The discipline is that I'm going every single four days to get my body in shape. What I love about discipline though is once you start making it a habit, once you start making it a schedule, it becomes easy. And then people are like, oh my gosh, how do you do it? And I'm like, because I've programmed my body to make sure to know that, hey, every morning we need to go to bed at this time and we've got to do this. I also know that my caffeine intake, I know that I can't have more than one cup of caffeine per day because then I'll get groggy and then I won't go to the gym. But it's about learning yourself. It's about having discipline, it's about scheduling, it's about making time. And you don't have to do everything at once, right? We don't try to have to discipline and be like, okay, I'm gonna read, I'm gonna run, I'm gonna eat, I'm gonna do this. We don't have to think about doing all of it. But what I would say to you is to do one thing well when it comes to discipline, right? We got to start thinking about this because this hits home for me as an entrepreneur, as I'm sure it does for many of you too. We all have these big dreams, big, bold visions for our businesses and our lives, right? But achieving those dreams is gonna demand discipline and consistency day in and day out, and even when you don't feel like it. So let's talk about two things mindset and discipline can either make us or break us as entrepreneurs, right? Your mindset and discipline are absolutely everything, right? Bible talks about transforming your mind. I've had to even get so clear in asking the Holy Spirit. I say, Holy Spirit, I'm gonna keep it a buck with y'all because it was good with examples if you don't have like actual practical things. I like a nice little coffee shop. I'm the coffee shop girl. I'm sure you guys can tell by my whole demeanor. I'm that girl. Now, these coffee prices have gotten really ghetto expensive. Once upon a time, they were five, six, seven. Now they're eight, nine, ten. Um, and that's a lot of money. When you think about 10 times five, that's$50. Let me just side note if you don't have your own coffee maker, if you don't have your own matcha setup, your own tea makeup, it would take you one week of being out to have your whole little setup, go on Pinterest and go, look, we need to steward our money as disciples and as people of business. But for me specifically, um, I don't spend that money. What I do is to my earlier point of I give myself a little bit of room to be able to still enjoy the things that I do like to do. So it's not so much of a regimen that I lock myself out of the opportunity to still do the things I like to do. So I won't go have coffee every single day. I will set aside either once every Saturday, which is usually my Sabbath, or like every two weeks, where I'll be able to go out and I can drink and do what not drink like that, but drink caffeine, y'all. Drink caffeine at a little cute coffee shop, sit there, have my little moment, and then be on my way and be home. The mindset that you start with is it's not going to cut it where God is taking you, right? So when I say discipline, but there are things in your life right now, and it's okay, right? We start off with understanding where we are, of where we can do better. We don't condemn ourselves, we don't shame ourselves, we don't compare ourselves, we don't say, I'm not you, Brittany. We take a look at who we are and we say, you know what? I could probably do better at drinking my water. I could probably do better at saving money. I could probably do better about learning the business that God has set aside for me. And when you, when you take a moment and you sit back and you don't critique yourself, you don't condemn yourself, you see yourself the way that God sees you and says, daughter, you can do better because I love you and I know that I created you and you have discipline. You have the ability to have the fruit of the spirit of having self-discipline over yourself. When you start thinking about that, you have this ability to start opening your mindset because where God is going to take you is going to require you to release the ideal and understanding of where God is taking. You have to believe that anything and everything is possible through through God and with God, obviously. When you start off, it's easy to feel limited that what you know or by your current situation, but God is gonna call you to think to be bigger, right? And Him calling you to be bigger is gonna require you to be under greater submission, which is gonna call you to be under greater discipline. He's gonna call you to step into something that seems impossible and to trust him for the growth and the wisdom that you need along the way. So discipline is going to be the bridge between where you are and where God wants you to be. Let me say that again. Discipline is going to be the bridge between where you are and where God wants you to be. Have y'all heard of the 75 Hard um challenge? Yeah. Um, so have I. And every time I look at it, I be like, man, that looks so much fun. I want to start it. Now, if you don't know the 75 Hard Challenge, it is this. I think it's a breaking of mindset that I would actually say. Obviously, it could be in the to the world, but when you look back and you assess it, I think that there's some some really great foundational principles that can be found within it. So 75 Hard, the way I understand it is you have to do two workouts. One of the workouts has to be outside, and the other one can be, you can do whatever you want, but you have to, and this is every single day for 75 days. Let me be let me say that again. 75 days. So that's two and 15, two months and 15 days that you were required to do all of these tasks every single day. And if you happen to mess up, you happen to slip up, you happen to forget, you have to start back. So if you are on day 15 and you forget one of the various things I'm about to tell you, you've got to start back at day one to start all over again. So, what does that do? That makes you look and prepare and plan in a different way. So 75 Hard, you've got to do two workouts a day, one outside, one inside. You have to drink a gallon of water a day. You cannot have sugar, you cannot have alcohol, you cannot even have caffeine. My god, you've got to read 10 pages of one nonfiction book and you have to take progress pictures. And I think there's one other thing. I think I'm missing, I think I'm missing one more. I think there's like seven things or six things. Outside of that, you guys, think about the discipline that you have to do this every single day that you would submit to your body of changing. You're changing your body and your well-being, you're changing the way that you're eating, you're not cheating, you're not doing sugar, you're not doing caffeine, all of the things that cause inflammation in your body. You're choosing to read 10 pages a day. My God, can you imagine if you read 10 pages of the Bible each day or 10 verses a day and you actually sat with the Lord, the discipline that would create your mindset to be like, oh, let me, let me learn a new thing, let me understand and you're breaking your mindset of what you think that you can only be. So many of us have limited our mindsets of thinking, I'm only this person. I can't get any, I don't want to make it even about image, you guys. I can't get any more fit than this. I can't get any smarter than this, I can't be any wiser than this. And this is that can't that we talked about in a different episode, where we're talking about what is your limitation on yourself that's setting your mindset to cause yourself into a stronghold and it's limiting your ability to walk into the path, walk into the business, walk into the fruitfulness, walk into the big bold faith that God has called you to into the season. Why? That's the first thing when we think about limiting and breaking the mindset. The second thing is this instant gratification won't get you there consistency well. I will continue to say this. I am going to continue to fight and continue to speak out because I believe it's uh it's a I don't like to call it demonic, but I'm gonna call it demonic in this season, and y'all gonna have to deal with it. There are these influencers, these people on social media, these people on Facebook, these people that are uh uh selling courses to you guys that are saying, in 30 days, I'm gonna get you seven, seven clients. Cool. Instant gratification. And what happens, what is when you get there and you don't get the seven, um, you become very disappointed, right? Because most likely when what you're required to do in that seven-week class, if that class is really about its life, right? I've already told you before that it takes time to be in the in the presence of God, right? And we go where the timing of God is. So when you're building this business, when you're building your altar first, and then you're building the temple that we discussed that can be found in Ezra, we are actually looking at just allowing God to be God. We aren't trying to outweigh his time. If God tells us, like he told Noah, it's gonna take how many years to build the boat, we're not trying to rush to build the boat. We're not trying to jimmy rig it, we're not trying to try to patch holes so that we can be finished first. We go with the timing of God. We know that God's time is perfect, he knows when our work will be done so that he can release the flood until the earth so that it can be done, right? So instant gratification isn't going to get you to where God is calling you to be. So be very careful of these courses and these classes and these people that are saying, hey, in seven weeks I can get you this. They could be telling the truth. And the requirement that's needed for you to be able to get there is gonna be like a 75 heart. It's gonna require you to be doing it every single day and dedication. And when you're really about your business, let me tell you this one thing that I learned as a business owner. You have to put your business first, right? You have to make education and the development of your business the very first thing before it comes to money. So when it comes to knowledge, when it comes to insight, when it comes to learning, when it turns to gleaning, when it comes to getting wisdom, when it comes to being mentored by other people, you have to sit at the feet of that before that you're able to be a big wig, that you're that you're rolling in the deep, essentially. And that happens through consistency. When you're reading, I think I I read a fact or something that it takes seven times for us to read something, for us to retain it. Can you imagine? Can you imagine if you read that book seven times, how much time it would take for you to just sit and like just take it all in? Take it all in. We love the ideal of instant success. I can give you a promise for 30 days. I can say, girl, in 30 days, I'm gonna make sure you what I'm not gonna lie. When I went to the gym and have been going to the gym, I'd be like, God, I've been here for 90 days. Why don't I look like a little bit? I wanna, I wanna be no, no, and it's little by little, it's like the small little muscles that just start shaping. But I have to change my mindset. I gotta change my mindset to think in the future, to think at my 80-year-old self, my 70-year-old self, my 60-year-old self, my 50-year-old self, 120-year-old self. I'm gonna keep proclaiming it, y'all. I'm gonna I'm gonna be here. I'm going to be here in the name of Jesus. Um, if it is your will, God, um, knowing that I am just a mist. Uh but I have to think about that future self. So don't think about the instant gratification, because the instant gratification is going to fall. You're gonna be disappointed in it. It's not good for the sustainability of your business when you try to sprint. This is not a uh, what do they say? Like it's not a sprint, is a marathon. It's gonna take, it's gonna be a while. Don't use all of your gas up in the front in the first leg of the race, y'all. You've got to be mindful of that because I think it changes the mind in thought of that 75 hard challenge that's going on. That when you look at it, the things that we can pull out is that it takes focus, that it takes planning, that it takes preparation. If you're gonna prepare not to fail, right? These people are traveling, these people have work. I'm sure that they're going to dining and events. If you if you have to do two workouts a day, right? One's got to be outside, one's the other way. You have to plan your day to be like, okay, so I'm gonna wake up at this time, I'm gonna go to the gym at this time, I'm gonna go outside. I got to make sure I go up to the outside one. I haven't done it because for me, I don't have the planning and preparation in this season to do two workouts. For me, going outside in the dark is a is not gonna work. But I would have to radically change my schedule to be like, okay, at 12 o'clock, then I'm gonna walk for 30 minutes outside. Uh, I can't read a book. You got to actually physically read a book. I don't think you can do like a podcast or like an actual audible. So you've got to actually, so I'm like, okay, how do I do that? How do I do this? How do I record the podcast? How do I do this business and take meetings and all of that? I would have to radically set a new routine and a new discipline for my life to be able to achieve and attain. And so I think that's what I'm saying is when you become a kingdom entrepreneur, there are some things that you're going to have to lay weight that you're going to have to set aside and say no to because you know what God is calling you is greater. And so there are going to be times that you're going to have to say up till like 10 to read that book that God told you to do. You're going to have to go to some of these classes so that you can get really good at speaking. And this is the wildest thing, you guys. Let's also make time for our families in that time. I'm not saying that you're, you know, try to do it all within two weeks or all within four weeks, you're going to burn yourself out. I think that'll be a really good episode that we can talk about is this entrepreneurial burnout spirit, because I've experienced that so much because I've been so set on the task that I also didn't allow for God to breathe into it. That I was so focused on getting the boat uh built in a timely fashion that I didn't make room for friends and family and activities and just community in general. We'll talk about that probably at a different time. This focused planning and preparation, for some of us, it seems impossible, but it really shows one thing. It shows discipline. And it isn't doing about what's easy, easy. It's about doing what's necessary every single day. If you want to succeed in your business, you're gonna need that same level of consistency. You might not see the results right away, but over time, the compounding effects of consistent efforts will lead you to success. I've definitely seen that. Like, again, I'm okay, come back to working out, y'all. I can run now. I used to be a girl that could not run. Now that I've been working on like my weight training, my weight training compounds and it transforms or transfers into me running well. So I can run two or three miles and I don't run like consistently. And I'm like, oh. All of those hard reps and bending over and deadlifts and all the things, all of that is transferring. Oh, okay. Like, I don't feel like I'm a little fat girl trying to run and I and out of breath. Like, okay, cool. We there. Then there's a discipline in prayer and fasting for clarity and strategy. If I do not tell you anything, you can't just have a physical discipline. You've got to have spiritual discipline in this walk. I'm gonna keep saying it. Prayer and fasting are crucial tools from hearing from God and gaining clarity on your entrepreneurial uh journey. What I love about God is he doesn't make any two humans alike. And so I feel like he doesn't make any two businesses alike when it's called for his kingdom. And so, so many times as entrepreneurs, we want to look to the left and we want to look to the right. We want to look at that entrepreneur and that YouTube person. We want to look at this other entrepreneur and how they did it and try to model and make work. And what I will tell you as an entrepreneur, there is no blueprint, right? When you're sitting with God, when you're a child of the most high God and He's giving you an assignment, he's gonna call you to do a new thing. And it's gonna seem like it should be in that same vein and it should look like this. But what happens is really, God is giving you a specific blueprint. And it seems like the same industry, but it's gonna be radically different. And you're gonna be trying to figure it out. But the most important thing is listening to God. There are some things that should be. Kind of tended to when it comes to finances and CPAs and understanding that. But as far as the making the model, yikes, there we go. The making the model of it, it's gonna be radically different. It's all gonna look like a phone, but they're gonna have different features. And you might be the popular feature. You might be the new make, the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 17, 20. I don't know which number we on right now. You're gonna look the same, but you're gonna be radically different. You're gonna do different things, you're gonna have different functions, you're gonna have different um abilities, and people are going to tend to you differently. And it's gonna look like a phone at the end of the day, but it's gonna look so so different. So when you're building something that aligns with your purpose, you need God's blueprint and strategy to guide you the whole entire way. Whether it's a new product launch or a decision about partnerships, taking time to seek God's uh direction through consistent prayer and fasting will not only bring wisdom, but also bring peace to soul, to your soul amidst the chaos of running the business. If I can't tell you guys anything else, and I will continue. And my God, what are we doing? And it's a daily thing though. Like, don't be out here just all dry with you know the bookers in your eyes when you wake up and you just blind it, right? Just out here, like, okay, like I think, I think go to God if you don't, and can I give this information and insight? If you don't know, can we wait? Wait on the Lord. Wait on the Lord. If I don't say anything else, if you don't hear from God, if you do not feel comfortable about moving forward or backward, I'm not saying if you're confused, if you're feeling overwhelmed and anxiety, we put that down, we put that at the feet of Jesus. But if you don't like clearly hear from God, wait on it. Wait, what are we doing? What are you you're going in your own strength now? Oh, okay, cool. But to hear God, to pray with him, to be in intimacy, because he's the ultimate. I have had dreams about partnerships and deals before they came and was not asking for them. And so when they came, I was like, I had a dream about this last night. I am content. I am straight. God was like, Oh, yeah, don't take that deal. Oh, that deal's not gonna work out. And you know what? I I felt had the peace that surpasses all understanding. And so when you're actually practically living this out, it looks different, you guys, but it's the way to go. It's a discipline, it's a submission. You need accountability. The biggest thing that I will also say as I'm as I'm kind of wrapping this up of discipline, right? Consistency. We'll get into that in a minute. Accountability. You need people that understand the vision that God has given you. You need community to just establish you so that you're able to bounce off ideals. But I think so much. Um, and I'm gonna ask you like if you're in the chat, if you're really seeking a kingdom community, like just put a put a hand raise, right? Put an emoji of a hand raise, if if that is you, of establishing this community of people to hold you accountable, to allow space to pray on your behalf. What I wish that I would have had was other entrepreneurs of faith that were praying for my business the way that I was praying for my business, that I could come to them and have this wild ideal and be like, yo, God told me to move to Dubai and start this. And my, you know, you don't have those people that are like, I don't think Jesus told you that. Or you have a CPA, and the CPA is like, you know, you spent a lot of money on uh tithes and donations this year. And I was like, I thought you were a believer. Like, I need people that who are yoked to be like, girl, I looked at how much you made, and this is just me. So this isn't like a tip that you need to, but I'm really needing accountability. And so I'm like, when I'm yoking with people in partnerships and I'm having a CPA, someone that's calling themselves as a believer, and you're saying, Hey, you actually donated a lot. My concern is, did I make sure it was 10%? You know what my net income is. Did I donate 10%? You need to be like, girl, you were$99 off. Oh, hold up. Let me make sure that I'm accountable. And I that could just be me. There's nothing scriptural about that. But besides being accountable and being like, God, let me make sure I'm giving a tenth to you. Let me make sure that I'm giving my first fruits to you. Let me abide by your word, let me abide by your commands and your decrees, which is what you call to be, right? Like, let me not get too far to think that I'm good by my works, that I'm out here when I I don't want to say when I could be doing better, Lord, but when I can be wringing myself out, that I'm actually dedicated and truly hearing and listening, and that I have people that are pointing out and being like, the way that your tone was to that person wasn't godly. I need that kingdompreneur entrepreneurial community to be like, girl, you're on fire, but that attitude. I saw how you responded to that person in that email. It wasn't right. I heard you as a keynote speaker, and you said you didn't say anything about God. You made it all about you. Those are what we need when I think about community and accountability. It's not to discredit, it's not to look down, it's not to hold contempt, it's not to say your words, it's so we can stay as close to Jesus as possible. And sometimes we don't see it. And we need those people so that we can look inward and not just outward to make sure that we're actually diligently following Jesus and that all that he's called to do and that we're actually following the word of God. Because at the end of the day, if we're not following the word of God, then we're not we're not following God at all. And so um if that is you and you're seeking community, put a little hand like it's me, Lord. I'm looking for a community of kingdompreneurs. Um, as I start this business to hold me accountable so that I can do your works here on the earth, that I can, that I can change big, bold ideas and visions. If that's you, drop it in the chat. Shop it in the chat. I think I'll just kind of touch on this. Consistency is hard for me when I think about getting up every single day to pray, when I get up every morning to go to the gym, when I get up and try to drink 120 ounces of water, consistency. I started this challenge that I think is amazing, and I'm going to give it to you. I call it the holy girl challenge because that's just me. I'm sure you guys have seen this challenge before. I have sticky notes, I have a pen, and then I have like just a list or a pad. And I usually will select a month of the of the years or whatever month, month that you choose, count how many days it has. So if there's 30 days, 31 days, 28 days, whatever. Take each sticky note, right? You can kind of see how it is from 75 hard. If you guys do this, you guys will already know. And you just stick them on your wall. So you have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, all the way through 30 or all the way through 31. I want you to sit with the Lord and say, or sit with yourself and see where you're lacking consistency. There is a lack of consistency for me specifically. Um, I've been lacking in uh reading my 10 pages a day, which I might downgrade to five pages because I just have a whole bunch of stuff to do. And for me to read 10 pages a day, and I'm not just talking about flipping, I'm talking about digesting, like meditating, like thinking about it, sitting on it, um, chewing it, digesting it, of actually taking in the word. Um, and it's not Bible, it's actually business. Um, it's actually um wisdom and counsel and all those things, and doing 30 minutes of Spanish. Because if you don't know, your girl needs to be speaking Spanish. I try to speak Spanish as much as possible, but I am not doing a really good job. And I feel like I've been learning it for eternity. And I'm like, God, I just just a second language, a third possibly, but a second language, please. Por favor. So on my current 30-day challenge, 31-day challenge, whatever month that you're in, I've written where I'm like, I want to spend an hour a day and reading my Bible. I want to drink 120 ounces of water, I want to read 10 pages. Um, I need to do uh a new meal every Saturday. I love to cook. Um, so just establishing that time to set aside to try a new recipe. And the fifth thing is to do 30 minutes of Spanish. And so in that, I sat down with myself before and I was like, where do I lack consistency in the things that God has called me to do? And that might look differently for you, right? You may be really good at reading your Bible every single day of just sitting and meditating, right? Um, you might be really good in prayer, or maybe you needed to make it like every day I'm going to set aside 30 minutes. Now, I'm not gonna tell you guys to do the crazy, right? I'm not gonna tell you to be like, do two hours of prayer. We have to progress up to that, right? So, my goal would be to say, do something well consistently for 30 days and take that time. Do it for 20 minutes. I have this tip and task too that I'm also gonna give, like as a little freebie on the side. If you are struggling to do anything, you need to pack because you forgot to pack and you're supposed to be leaving tomorrow. You need to clean your house and you feel like you're overwhelmed and you do not have the time. Set a timer for 30 minutes and put your phone down. No Instagram, no phone calls, no text messages, uh, no none of that, no WhatsApp, no not, and focus on the task at hand and see how much you could accomplish. And so, similarly enough, when it comes to consistency, the thing that we lack most is basically focus. And when we can focus on the task for at least 30 minutes. So when it comes to Spanish, I know for me, I need to either be walking or doing something where all my mind is set on Spanish. I'm speaking out loud, I'm talking out loud, I'm doing whatever. When it comes to reading, I know that I have to get to bed earlier so that I can sit and have time and spin, spin, spin, taking in that last 30 minutes before I put my um head to sleep. When it comes to reading an hour, that means I have to probably get up earlier and set some of my meetings, but that is all about discipline and consistency. So, what I would employ you to do is look at your schedule, look at the things that God has called you, look at the things and places and spaces that you feel that you're lacking when it comes to consistency, um, whether it's starting your business, if God has told you to start a new book, if God has started you to start a new business and you're like, I need to do the business plan, spend 30 minutes a day consistently on the business plan and see how much further that you get. See how many more ideas come your way. See when you start putting uh things into places and preparing accordingly what God and what will do. Here's also some work to do. I want you to set aside some time for a Sabbath each week. Oh my, y'all gonna come at me. I know y'all don't want to do it. It's okay. It's okay. Because for the real ones, for the disciplined people, for the people that want to do the 75 heart, the people that want to do the consistency, maybe it's just 30 minutes of a Sabbath. Maybe it's an hour of a Sabbath, maybe it's a full day. It has been so transformative in my life that I've been able to just sit with the Lord. And you guys might think that I'm just sitting and reading the word all day. I'm not. I'm usually just out in nature with God. I'm, you know, maybe listening to a sermon. I don't try to listen to too many sermons because I'm really listening for the word of God, but I'm like playing with God. I'm like, God, let's go on a date. Let's go to the picnic, let's read a book, let's go get my$7 coffee. You treating, right? Like we out here and just spending that time with God, not working, not trying to do a business plan, not trying to do anything. The it's not just about physical wrath, it's about renewing your spirit and getting clear on what God wants you to focus on. It's about being in intimacy with God, right? Even if you don't hear a word from God, it's just like hanging out with your best friend. Just think about if you had your best girlfriend, your best guy friend, and they were like, yo, can I roll through? And you're like, Yeah. And you guys spend the day with together. And guess what? You guys have the most fun ever, and you're not even looking at time. The intimate time with your creator will reset your focus for the week ahead. It gives you a well to be watered by. And when I don't have those moments when I'm not spending my Sabbath with God, to be honest with you, with uh my business and I travel quite a bit, I don't always get that Sabbath day through the week. And so what I end up doing is I'll go 14 days and baby, let me tell you on the 15th day, we like, Jesus, where are you? Where is our play date? When do I get a chance to be with you? And getting just an opportunity to reflect, too, of like reflecting through your week, reflecting on what went well, reflecting on what didn't go the way that you want to, reflecting on God. Is this what you want me to go through? I did this last week. This is bringing all of that to God and having really just this moment to just be with Him. So I think that that for sure is just gonna be instrumental. Here goes another thing. You want to change your language and own what you're doing. I have another challenge for you. I have so many challenges for you. So we have what the first challenge is this 30-day, 31 challenge of where you lack consistency, right? The second one is gonna be about um actually taking a Sabbath and spending time with the creator because he's the one that gave you the idea. He's the one that like actually created you to do something great. The third thing is gonna be as entrepreneurs, I think and I know that we're so afraid to profess what we're actually working on in case it doesn't succeed. Just yesterday, someone was like, Hey, what do you do? And I was like, Oh, yeah, you know, I'm a serial entrepreneur. And I left it like that. And they were like, uh, are you gonna tell me what you actually do? And I'm like, oh, my bad. Like, I forgot. And part of it is because I've been waiting to kind of release the word. But I think that there's something beautiful when you start getting um the ability just to talk about who you are. Now, I don't assign my personality and who I am with the businesses that I am, but it's a great way to start opening conversation and dialogue with people that may be potential customers. But even if it's not finished, even if it's not ready to launch, even if it's not ready in a place and a space to uh what you want it to look like, but starting to get comfortable with that word, I can guarantee you if you do it to seven people or do it with seven people, and they're like, hey, what is it that you do? And even though you work that nine to five and you're an HR assistant or you're an admin or whatever, you say, you know, I'm an HR assistant, but actually I just I'm a new business owner and I'm actually out here. I have a new um coffee shop that's gonna launch next year, and it's all about getting people in community. People be like, oh, okay, cool. Do you have a card connect? And you're gonna have the unexpected. Now, my goal is for you not to go into it looking for connections. If the connections happen, great, but we're trying to get comfortable in speaking prophetically, speaking prophetically, the word that God has given you to be the person he's called you to be as an entrepreneur, because an entrepreneur requires you to speak. Introverts, that's me and you. Uh, all y'all that we don't like to speak and like to talk about ourselves and we like to be the shoe-op girls in the back, um, is gonna require you to talk and to speak to other people. And I know that some of you guys are like, You're an you're an introvert. Yeah, your girl's an introvert. She got a whole lot to say. But trust when it comes to a chance to speak and talk about the things that God has given me, I'm I'm definitely a willing vessel. And so I know that he can use anyone. So start telling people what you're doing, invite them into your vision. You, God might bring a destiny helper. Someone might be like, Oh, I can actually help you. I've been actually looking. Open up those partnerships. When you start doing it alone and when you're so secluded in yourself and you try to, this is the first thing that I learned in my business. Like trying to do it all by yourself will wear you out. It will burn you out. And so when you allow yourself to be open to opportunities, open to partnerships, open to being yoked in partnerships that are godly, so that you guys can do it in unity, that you can do it in community, um, that you can do it onto the Lord. You might be surprised at how much motivation and accountability you also gain when you put your dreams out there. Because I have people be like, Hey, when is that business starting? That you say, I'd be like, Hold up, let me, let me finish, let me get my stuff done. Let me, oh, oh, somebody in the you know, my hairdresser go ask me next week, hey, so when the business you said it was gonna be in Q1 of 2025. I said, Oh, hold on, let me let me get to work, God. And so that acts as an accountability that acts as community. So don't hold back. I want you to say it out loud. I want you to make it real. God is backing you, right? When we trust in God, right? In his faith and belief that's saying, God, I'm doing the best that I can because you showing up daily and consistently and with obedience is you showing up, right? We show up for the kingdom, and when you speak it, you'll start believing it. And even more, even more things will happen, I believe. My final tip, final, final. I know I said that last time, but I have one more. I got one more. Is we gotta stop multitasking. Y'all not gonna like me. I'm a multitasker. I am that girl. I will try to do all things through Christ's Jesus who strengthens me. And Jesus was like, I need you to focus. We are losing that um intimate nature of connection and we're doing too much. Can I say it? You're doing too much. Um, we're all guilty of multitasking, thinking we can juggle a million things at once. But what if you committed to reading one book for two months and you applied every tip that was in it, right? I say this all the time. If it when I think about wisdom, right, wisdom isn't just like knowledge, it's applied knowledge. When you apply the knowledge, and if someone's like, hey, uh hypothetically, right? I know there's so much knowledge and information and insights, and what we keep doing is we jump around. We're like, oh, on this Facebook page, on this Instagram page, on this article, this podcast, this, and you're doing you're listening to too much that you're not hearing. Um you're not hearing well, right? You hear a lot of things and you're running over here and you're running over there and you're doing this and you're doing and you do nothing well. You're a master of none. You get nothing done. And so you have a whole year and you're like, dang, I ain't getting nothing done. I thought I was gonna open a business. You were, but you were over here on this person's Instagram, you were at this, you were at that conference, you were at this conference when you should have just been at home reading that one$20 book. Let me tell you, your business mentor can be a$20 book, y'all. It does not have to be me, it does not have to be a class, it does not have to be anything. You could have a book by one person. If you consume that, if you ingest that, if you actually put the principles into place, speaking about the Bible as well, if you put those principles in place, you will see monumental changes. You will see changes in your fruit that you will be like, oh, okay, like when I did this in the day today, this looks totally different. It's the same thing with it's compounding, uh, you're compounding your behavior. When you think about putting money into a CD, when you think about putting money into a bank account, or more importantly, like a CD, it's compounding over time. And when it keeps compounding over time, then you see the fruit. And so even if every day, for example, if you ate an apple every single day, if you drank water, if you went walking every single day, you would see the changes in your body, you would see the changes in your stride, you would see the changes in your heart, you would see the changes in your mind, right? You would have a different mindset and mental. Your ability to think about your health would be completely different, right? You would be able to get past that mindset and that cap that just keeps you locked in to say, I can't work out, I can't move, I can't lose weight, I feel like I'm I'm stuck. If you are stuck right now, I'm gonna ask you to focus at one thing at a time. Even listening to these principles, looking and saying consistency, finding that one book, taking it out, reading your word every single day while you're building that business plan. Spend 30 days, you guys, to do one thing, to do one thing. You'd walk away with practical knowledge and wisdom that yields results instead of you know constantly jumping in from one to the thing, focus on one thing, you'll get the results. You guys have a lot. I gave you so much homework. I gave you the Sabbath, I gave you the 30 days, I gave you to focus on one thing. I think I gave you something else too. But if you take that knowledge, right, it turns into wisdom. You get a chance to actually walk out, and it doesn't feel like you're just walking aimlessly in the desert and in a drought, and so many of us lose focus and we're trying to do everything. We're like, I think I can do this, I think I can, I think I can, I think do one thing. And then when God says no, then pick up the next thing that God has told you to do. If you're baking and God's like, nah, this ain't it, this ain't it, play it. Okay, put it down. Pick out the graphics design, do that thing until he tells you to stop, or until he changes it and molds it to something else. And so um, if there's one thing I want you to take away from today is this consistency and discipline aren't just for fitness, they're essential for entrepreneurship and for your spiritual growth. If you want to see change, it's going to take consistent action and a mindset that refuses to quit. I would love to hear from you. As I said earlier, if that is you, if you're wanting kingdom entrepreneur community, put your hand up. But I also want to know what area of your life or business where you're going to focus on discipline and consistency this week. Make the commitment, say to myself, to my business, to myself, I will be obedient and I will have discipline and consistency. And drop your answers in the comments below. And if you're not subscribed, make sure you subscribe if you haven't already, so that we can always keep growing together as we keep walking out our big bold faith because you know, the world needs your unique gifts and the boldness that only God can give and work through us to be. So I'm gonna pray us out, but make sure that you subscribe, make sure you come back often, make sure you share this. I hope that this was beneficial. I hope that this sows seeds into your business for generational growth and not just finances, you guys, that it's actually making a difference for the kingdom of God, that you are a light into the darkness. I hope that you are a light, that you become salt, that you do all things that God has called you to do, that longing that God has called you into in the ministry. I pray that it just bears so much fruit in this season. So we'll pray as out. Lord, in the name of Jesus, Lord, I thank you, Lord, that you give us the ability to be consistent and have discipline, Lord. I pray that our eyes be focused, Lord, and we stop being distracted by the various things by nature, by Instagram, by social media, Lord, by the distractions of this world that keep us and limit us, Lord, from walking out fully what you've called us to do in this season. God, I pray for every entrepreneur under my voice, Lord, that they have the spirit of Jesus, the same uh spirit that was living in Jesus with racism of grace, is the same one that's in them right now as they operate, Lord, as they ask for understanding and gain insight and glean understanding of where you're calling them to be in the spaces and places, God. Lord, I pray that you open up their eyes as they come to you, Lord, as they spend time with you, Lord, with intimacy, Lord, in relationship, Lord, that they hold reverence to you, Lord, that they understand that this mission, that this business is greater than them, God, that it is for your glory, that it is for your ministry, that it is to capture souls, God, that it is not all about um what we can gain, God, but what we can do for you, Lord, here on the earth, Lord, as our time, as temporary residence, God. Lord, I pray that we take back souls, Lord, from the enemy, Lord, from the darkness, God. Lord, I pray, Lord, that you go before us, around us, Lord, that you protect us, that you protect our minds, um, and that you just uh display and show any areas, Lord, that we lack um consistency, discipline, Lord, and focus, Lord, in the season, Lord. And that you um, as it as in giant james, Lord, that we can ask for anything, Lord, and that when we ask for it, Lord, let us do it, not um wavering. Um, let us do it wholeheartedly, Lord, asking unto you, Lord, and that you will give it, Lord. So, Lord, we magnify your name. We give you all the glory, we give you all the honor in the Son's precious name, Jesus. We pray. Amen. This episode is brought to you in partnership with Sozo Digital Media.
