And I'm excited to give you guys cheat codes to help develop your business and insight of wherever you are. Today's gonna be a really kind of exciting episode, not kinda, it is. I'm believing for it, I'm expecting for it. As we dive into this deep question of like, how do I know if my business is succeeding or if it's failing? And if that sounds like you, if you feel like you're the person that just started your business, maybe you...
You've started it for a minute. and you're just like, it don't look like all y'all glams up to be. I'm not sure I'm doing this thing the right way. It doesn't look right. It doesn't look like my neighbors. and even if you want additional tips, y'all, I dropped some wonderful tips and I'm sharing more of that. if you guys did not hear, we've got a newsletter. you can find it in the description, but if you're moving and shaken, if you can remember this, if you go to Hey Brit,
You can subscribe to our newsletter each week just giving seeds, soul seeds. don't call them gems, I call them seeds because Lord let it be like the good seed that fell on the good ground and a good season Lord. And so if that is you and it's not just for the business entrepreneur, it's really just about faith in general. And so if that is you, encourage you to meet us.
that as I curate and cultivate kind of the things that God puts on my heart week after week, but let's jump into today because I myself, type a, if anybody else is a type A put a little a in the chat, drop it, in the comment section, if you just go ahead, if that's you and you overthink and you're not sure if you're doing your business the right way, I've struggled with this.
12 year old veteran, y'all, serial entrepreneur. I'm trying to just basically take in everything that God has called me that I don't want to actually believe anybody else like that. Things are like, oh, people are like, you're a good communicator. And you're like, yep, God said that I was a good communicator. In the back, are you like, Lord, I got a stuttering problem. And Paul said the same thing and he appointed them all to the cross of Jesus because of the power of Christ. And so,
Even in my stuttering, even when I'm not sure, we do it all in Jesus's name. And I'm always going to lace in scripture with y'all because where would we be? Where would I be without Lord? And if that's not you, I just say that when you actually follow God in your business, things change. The math never makes sense, but the books always balance. And so I really kind of want to kind of give you guys some things if you're like looking at your business.
You've started, you finally launched, you finally started, you finally decided to do that thing that's been operating that people have been just like, hey, you should start something. And now you're taking a step back and you're looking at it you're like, am I failing? Am I succeeding? And even those people that haven't started, here goes some things to kind of just like understand as you continue to build your business. So the first thing that I'm going to say, and something, if I can be real hot with you guys for a second, y'all not going to judge me, right? Okay, cool. I just wanted to make sure,
is establishing your identity. wee, a lot of people are gonna say this. And I struggle with this so hard, so much so that like these affirmations, y'all be singing like, am what I am has said I am. I struggle really hard with those affirmations because they feel ethereal. They feel very like off the page, very lofty, very like here today, gone tomorrow, and they don't resonate with my soul.
It doesn't make me feel anything more. And so I've been asked this question probably 59, 11 times and I'm not saying that cause that's the trend. I literally think back when, when I get to heaven and God goes through the books, I'm gonna try to remember, be like, how many times does people ask me, what is your identity? Who are you? Who does God say that you are? He gonna say it was 59, 11 times. I'm a hundred percent sure.
And that could be you when people have asked you like, who are you outside of your career, your talents, your gifts, your prophecies, being able to see into the third heaven outside of those things, who are you? And it's a struggle for me because I don't see myself the way that people see me. Ooh, I'm gonna tell on all of myself. You guys right now see a very polished person that can speak. That's very inner dread. If I told you guys I'm an introvert.
And I really just be like, I don't really like to talk to most people. I don't really usually have a word unless the look you would be shook. You would be. Those are the things that are going on in my mind right now. Y'all think I am an awesome communicator. I say, okay, God, that's what you said. And, it's wild because we don't ever receive it. and let me, let me not get too ahead of myself as far as like establishing your foundation and your identity.
The reason why this is so important as believers, as kingdompreneurs, in any part of life, really, as you're walking out your faith, it's the first thing that the enemy is going to go after, right? He's going to go after who God called you to be when he formed you. If he can confuse your identity, then he can confuse your mission. He can confuse the pathway that you were on. If you don't know who and what you were called to be, let's take the most practical sense, you guys.
If you were called to be a carpenter or whatnot, and somewhere in the midst of it, you got confused and you were like, Oh, I'm not going to be a carpenter. I'm going to be like a baker. And the baker, you were still kind of building things, but it never satisfied you. And you never were to your greatest potential because God never called you to be a baker. He called you to be, um, he called you to be a carpenter. And in the carpentry, you were going to establish and make all of these wonderful and beautiful things in your impact.
and you would have felt so much more satisfied. if he's able to confuse your identity, he can lessen your ability to have the reach of what God has called you to be and to be in the earth, right? So if you think about like, I mean, I was gonna use some type of other analogy, but I think that that's the best analogy. If you are called to do one thing and the enemy confuses you and you go a different way, yes, you might have some success, you might have...
but there'll always be this nudging of something else that you should have done. That's the first thing. Second of all, as far as like your reach, I think about George Washington Carver who was able out of a scene, single peanut, able to produce 300 different uses and solutions by using that. If he would have decided to be like, to focus on a mango or a lemon or do something else, he would have, we would never, we wouldn't have some of the things we wouldn't have peanut oil. We wouldn't have some of the makeup that we have today because he was relentless.
in knowing who he was called to become in that season. And that's what the enemy is after. If he can come after your identity of who God has called you to do when he formed you in your mother's womb. That's the first thing. But then if he can have you question and doubt like he did Eve in Genesis and say, did God really say?
that you were going to be a carpenter? Did he really say that you were going to be a business owner? Did he really say that you were going to be a baker? Did he really? So that he can plant the doubt in your mind and then you can question God and then you can be outside of the will of God. And then we over here in a fallen nature doing the very thing that wasn't what God's original plan was. And that is the most important thing when it comes to knowing is your business failing or is it succeeding?
Cause it only succeeds if you're actually walking out everything that God has called you to do and to be. Now you're asking me, okay, cool, Britt sounds great. Now what? How do I identify if what I was called to do, if I'm doing what I'm supposed to be called to do essentially. First thing I'm going to tell you to do is there are God is such a wonderful God that he's always speaking to us. And there have been people that are believers and non-believers telling you things all the time.
Quiet yourself down long enough from the noise. Take that Sabbath, take all of these things and just take a moment to breathe and say la. To allow space. And I believe so much right now that I'm going to challenge you. I'm going to challenge you that if you are a believer and you actually believe in the great I am, that you ask God, God this week.
Will you please show me, will you please tell me the things that I do not see about myself through other messengers and people that can see it? I want you to be with heavy expectation. want you to turn your head to the left, to the right and be ready to receive that. This is what I'm going to say second. lot of people not going to tell you this, but I'm going tell you this. Once you, once you ask that from the Lord and maybe you don't
You don't need to ask the Lord. Maybe people have already told you things and you know that you're going to be a speaker, a communicator, an author, a baker, a mother, whatever the thing that God has already kind of showed you. Like so many times that people just out of left, like there used to be a time that people would be like, Hey, do you have a podcast? And I'm like, Oh my goodness, God. And I'm like, yes, I have a podcast. People that didn't know me that would just hear me speak. You know what? You have a podcast voice. Okay. God.
You've called me to be a podcaster. God, let me go ahead and put it on a list. Like what we, what we supposed to be doing, what I do with that information, with whatever someone tells you, we take it back to the feet of Jesus. Every single time that I'm going to tell you guys something, I'm going to give you a practical advice, but I'm going to give you also some very biblical advice. I do nothing without moving in the vein and the space of what God is right. Me and my own flesh be sounding so good to ourselves. Let me make sure that my heart.
Who what is deceitful above all who can know it man can't know it only God can't so I've got to take my heart my suggestions and my thought process even the accolades the accolades of every other person and take it and be like, okay Jesus this what the world says. What do you say? And when you take that to the Lord and you're able to go to the Lord and you say, okay God, these are the things that are people are saying. What is it that you made me out to be?
He will give you the ability to have focus on what the things that he wants you to focus on in the season, because here goes the things. There have been some things that God has called me as, but I know it's not my time yet. And so I have to operate in a space of knowing where we're going, but we're not there yet, right? So I can't just be out here like, okay, God's gonna call me to be.
I'm trying to think of something like that. I'm not sharing all of the things just yet because God hasn't told me to release it. But if God's like, Hey, I want you to be like the next president or something, right? God has not called me to that, but let's just use that. God hasn't called me to be... The small micro moment might be like, okay, he's called me to be a president. Okay, let me ask for the wisdom of God and what he wants me to do to show me to become president. Okay, God, you want me to get good at serving people.
That's a concept in America that we don't know yet. But your assignment is to serve the United States of America. So your goal might be like, hey, I want you to serve the homeless once a week. God, how are we doing it? Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Go out on your way to work before you're driving. Leave 30 minutes before, take 30 minutes, make connections with people, see people from where they are, and impart the love of God. And so when you take those moments,
then we start moving in the space and so we know then our identity of God. And so then when the enemy comes to still kill and destroy it, cause he will, cause he's cunning like that from the beginning using those same raggedy tricks, snag a tooth, devil, get behind me, those same tricks. You can be aware and be like, no, you playing, you playing cause God showed me this. And so every moment that you're doing, you're able to walk in that confidence.
And it builds that boldness and that courageousness of what God is calling you to do in the season. And so that'd the first thing. If am I succeeding in business? You only know if you're succeeding in business, if you have the identity of what God has called you to be and how do you know that you take everything that the Lord has given you and you write it down, you submit it to the feet and you say, God, where are we going when new things and new opportunities come and they don't align to the first, you go back to God and you say, God, is this something different? Like,
Is this a new brand deal, a new partnership, a new thing? Like how does, how does being the president correlate with being an influencer? Like are those the two, is that how you want me God? Cause let me not be on this internet and me be a president. And then they go back in the archives and be like, you know, on your YouTube page, you did XYZ. And that's, that's the first step, that identity, how to know who you are. I said this in the like last episode, believe it.
That's my hardest part, believing. The enemy doesn't want you to believe what God has said. He wants you to think that you're a fake, that you're a traitor, that you're not qualified, that you don't have the education, that you're really not that worthy. You're not that dope. You're not that smart. You're not that intelligent. Nobody likes you. You're not that popular. There's only a hundred people that follow you on your Instagram page. And it's like...
God, know that you didn't, you I know that you call me a mighty warrior, but you look in like, me? I'm just over here trying to help my family, God. I'm just like hiding, trying to make a way out. Your identity ties into your success because the greatest thing that the enemy can take away, that's the only thing he can take away.
Right? It's knowing who you are, who you were purpose to be, who you were divine to be. When he's able to confuse you, then he's able to confuse you actually not even only believing in yourself, but believe it in God. And the enemy is after your faith at all costs. So if I can confuse your identity, I can get you off track of what you're supposed to be doing. Then I can also lead you away from God and I can steal your faith. And then this God that you believe in, you don't actually believe it. And so it's
all like I'm, putting the enemy's schemes on blast for y'all. This is the playbook. This is the playbook for your business. And this is the playbook for the enemy on how he works and how he can be so cunning and destroying. And so he'll come after that first. And then you'll be like, okay, I can't do it anymore. I don't have resources. Nobody likes me. Keep going. Keep pushing. Keep. That's why community having a circle, you guys is so important because there's scripture that talks about two or better than one, right? When you're fighting.
and you guys are like locked arms back to back, like able to turn around and you kick pow in the enemy this way and that person's kicked pow in the enemy the other way. You're locked together, just in unison together, right? And that may be your husband, that may be your wife, that may be your prayer partner, that may be your friend, your ride or die, whatever, get somebody, somebody, somebody that's a believer.
Somebody that's after the same goals that you are in yoke in partnership when it is to whatever God is calling you in the season Here goes the second thing that I learned very difficult very very very very difficult That I just like even to today. I'm like, ooh every time I read the scripture so Exodus 18 your boy Jethro who is the father-in-law of Moses
rose up to Moses and it's like, Moses, what you doing? And Moses is like, well, the people are coming to me for all of these decisions and they wait day and night for me to give them an answer. And Jethro like, can I give you some suggestion? You can consult the Lord. What you're doing is not good. It's not good for you and it's not good for the people. And out of this suggestion, Moses comes up with establishing the 12 tribes of Israel.
and he has each person, a leader assigned to each part of them. And the people go to each leader when they have an issue and the bigger matters, they go to Moses. For me, this is the biggest thing when it comes to being an entrepreneur. We try to do everything, we try to bootstrap. And I think that that's important to a certain point, but you have to also be mindful to understand, I always say this too, that the mission is greater than just you.
that God gave you that idea for an outreach for more than one person. Now, I'm not just saying that for your clients, I'm saying that for the destiny helpers that are coming along to help you with the way, right? If you think about the gifts and the talents, right? We all have different gifts of the body of Christ, right? There can only be one pastor, but with the pastor, you need a person to be able to lead song and worship. You need someone to be able to pray. You need someone to be the elders. You need people to have people that have counsel. You need people to have admin.
Each one of those are assigned to the body of Christ and you need those people to be part of the body of your business as well. And so it's not just about, okay, who you're doing business with so that you're not burning out, but that you have people on your team to help you to establish you not being a burnout because what good is it if you're burnt out and not able to do the work that God has called you to do? So how you do that practically do an audit of your business.
everything that you're doing from marketing to Instagram, doing the finances, doing the QuickBooks, to doing the reconciliation, to thinking of new ideas and pricing, write all of those things down, take an audit for a week. Then check off the things that you technically need to do. My perfectionist people, my type A people, let it go. They gonna mess up. They don't forget a comma. They gonna forget a period. They not gonna send the email on time. They gonna be a minute late. They not gonna do it the way that you want to.
They don't, the color scheme gonna be kind of janky, but it got put out, something happened. It got done and it is your responsibility to be able to instruct them, to be able to lead them. And this is where you lean on prayer to be able to help God, to say, God help me be a better communicator, a teacher, a leader, to be able to speak into other people, to see their gifting and their talent because we all started a certain place. And so your ability to lead them,
is to give them instruction and to be patient and kind and gentle. All the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, what is it? All of those things, all the fruits of the spirit, Galatians 5, 20, use all of those things as you're doing unto the Lord. So write down a list, do an audit, then think of all of the things that only require you. So some things might be you navigating new business relationships with new partners, but.
established ones that you already have, you can give that off to your team. You may not have a team just yet. That's totally fine. We talking, we talking in the future, but we talking about now, right? All of those things. And if you're, I if you're in year one, year zero, I still want you to do this. Cause I wish I would have did this. I didn't do this till later. And I was still like, God, the math's not mathing So make one column, second column, write down who on your team this would go to. So you might have an operations person. You might have a marketing person.
write all of those like future people that you're looking for. After you've established that, the third thing you're going to do is you're going to do a, you're going to write out a standard operating procedure. It's called an SOP. It's essentially in short, basically instructions on how to complete the task. So your goal would be probably like, Hey, we post three times a day on Instagram. These are the keywords that we use. This is our target audience. This is our ICA, our, our, our avatar.
This is the person that we're trying to communicate to and you're writing this down. if like somebody for the first time was coming into your business and you said, Hey, I need you to post something on Instagram. would be very clear and concise to be able to figure that out for my Saint saints. I'm gonna have y'all clear, close your eyes. For those of us that are loving technology right now, I'm gonna give you a little bit of a cheater. If you're on chat GPT, I would suggest that first off you write all of these things down first in your own context as you are.
as the creator, you are creative without ChatGPT. Then take that and then I want you to run it through ChatGPT and say, hey, help me conduct a standard operating procedure for my marketing assistant or whatnot. And it'll be very clear and concise and you'll be able to see the structure and the identity of what you're supposed to be creating. One thing that I wish we also had was ChatGPT because when it comes to being a strategist or being very type one structured one,
I want to know what I'm supposed to be able to create. so sometimes it can be feeling very overwhelming because you guys are like an SOP, standard operating procedure. What am I supposed to be doing? When you're able to see what it looks like and get an ideal and understanding of like, I'm just creating a blueprint for the next person that comes in that wants to create this said thing. You have an idea of what that looks like. So here, here it goes again. Let me, let me run you through. Let me do a recap, write down and do a business audit of all the things that you do. Right down in the second one, all the things.
that are basically that you need to do, but then also the things that your future team will need your market and assistant, write down their names, write down their titles, and then write a standard operating procedure for each one of those and continue to update them. Then here it goes. Then when these people start coming, those processes and files are already established and you're not looking around like, my God, I gotta tell these people what to do. I remember what I've been doing with me myself and I for the last five years. What am I supposed to do? And
you get a chance to know what you're looking for. You're like, I need someone that's going to be able to establish my brand and to think bigger than me and be able to have a reach. So when you look at qualifications, you're able to have that thought process and that information and insight before you go into the hiring process. And we just over here hiring anyone off of Fiverr, anyone off of, there's another one I'm forgetting.
you have information on what your goal is and we're not just spending random money. So that has been profound for me. That's number two. Go read Exodus 18 y'all. Open the book to Exodus 18, ask the Holy Spirit and then read it and then not feel the conviction of the Lord of like, please don't be out here trying to be bad by yourself, girl. That's the third thing I love to tell my mentees, charging.
hourly or don't charge hourly, charge by your project, charge by the solution.
Girl, learn this late, y'all. Like, I was two years ago, maybe three, that I was like, I can't keep doing this hourly thing. Hourly thing wasn't beneficial. I just told you guys I was doing it solo-dolo. I still do it solo-dolo. It's be myself and I. So how am I supposed to do me, myself and I of a team of one and then be charging by hourly? The hours don't make sense. There's only 24 hours in a day. So I'm burning myself out.
And then I'm trying to work 24 hours a day so that I can make whatever the amount is, $240. And that's not working. And I'm like, okay, when I think about it, and I tell people this all the time, when you think about Picasso in his later years, people pay for his work. They didn't say Picasso in whenever he was born was different than a Picasso in his most, in his later days. They were, they were purchasing based off of the completed work.
Now, if it took him 50 hours or 500 hours, they would have not known, they would have just known the price and he establishes the price and says, this is my final work and this is what I'm associating it to. Look at your work at what you're doing as producing a solution. What solution are you, are you allowing your customer to get to? Right? They don't need to know the ins and outs. They don't need to know that it took a thousand hours or one hour.
What are you doing very well for them that they couldn't do for themselves, that you were able to do it quickly, that you were do it with acumen, with diligence, with proficiency. In all of those ways, start looking at your work as, what is the value that I'm bringing, the value added that I can help my clients with? And then with that, you can assess like, okay, I'm not doing this hourly. Like you should not be, it should be like, hey,
I'm going to do this and you should know and internally, and this is what I tell people when you don't know your pricing again, I'm going to have a whole different episode on pricing, but you've got to also know how much it takes you internally to produce said solution. So for me, if I was going to, you know, create a podcast or something, if you were going to edit something and you were going to be like, okay, for an hour podcast, I know for me in the season that I am, it's usually going to take me and depending on the person, the person might have a lot of ums and breaths and stuttering and all the things.
It might take you longer with that person than it does to somebody else, but someone that's more proficient to the point that has a more polished thing, you can be like, I can do that in 15 minutes. They don't need to know you need to do it in 15 minutes. They can just be like, okay, I can do this. It'll look like this and my rate is my rate and it'll be your project. And that'll be our little secret. So just know that when you're getting into a place in a space as an entrepreneur to look at it as, okay, I'm going to do it as a project.
Sometimes it doesn't make sense like that. have some people on my team that from season to season, we work in different ways where it's like, hey, let's do it on an hour. Let's do it on an episode. Let's do it on a task specifically. Sometimes it doesn't make sense, but most times it can make sense. So start thinking of yourself as a solution versus just like another service, another project, because you're so much greater than that. My fourth thing is not taking my business seriously.
You know when God guy gave you something and you're like, oh yeah, God, this is cute. This is a nice little hobby. And you don't get your papers in order. You don't get your business in order. If you were to actually think, okay, so like, let's just take a moment, breathe. Wherever you are in your process, whether you just filed your, I said S corp, Lord, tax, that's the tax structure. Your LLC, you may have an S corp, you may have a C corp, you may have a partnership, you may have a sole proprietor, wherever you are in the process, look at your business as a big deal.
think about your business like if your business 10 years or 20 years down the road got handed to your great grandchildren or wherever you are 50 years down the road and you're looking at it, what would it be? How would it be established? Did you do the work that it needed to be? I think of the scripture that talks about creating kind of this foundation that when tested through the fire, it's not gonna burn up.
So it's like, look at your business as a serious matter. Stop looking at it as a hobby, as a side thing. I think for a really long time, can I be honest with you guys? I'm gonna be so honest. Don't tell nobody, okay? God knows my heart. I always was looking for the exit. I was like, okay God, this is cute. Like, we gonna do this for two years, three years. What if God gives us, this is your business for the next hundred years. How do you change your heart posture? God says, this thing I have you doing, I want you to do it until like your dead.
till you're 120. Your girl got at least another 80 years. Okay, God, that change is totally different. Let me get my house in order. Let me save everything. Let me understand what it is to be financially literate. Let me get the books in place. Let me understand of establishing a trust that's different than my personal so that when I do die, it's not a burden, that it's actually like, let me get in a succession plan where like I'm deciding to sell my biz. Can we be serious with our business?
We're not serious about our business. No, because you wouldn't be operating the way you operate. wouldn't be like having a little, you would not not have a bank account set up. You would not not have a line of credit or a credit card set up. You would not not have your papers and books signed up. So if someone ever came and audited your business that you would be able to like establish and be like, okay. Yeah, we ready. You know, like all of those things that we don't take seriously. And so for the longest, I'm still learning this y'all. I'm still learning this, but I'm giving you cheat codes cause I want you to be better than me.
get your like, the business that the God that God created you for seriously, make it a serious matter.
My fifth thing, y'all not gonna like me. I can see it. It's okay. We gonna take it slow. I'm telling you, this is so good. Y'all are missing out. Being influenced by the money versus the message. There have been so many times in my first business. I'm still believing in my second business, y'all. I still gotta like.
digest it to be like, oh, you're a serial entrepreneur. Yep. I got two businesses associated. it don't matter that one's not profitable yet, but wait for it cause it's coming. Um, but being influenced by the money versus the message, I believe money is a resource to be able to do God's work. What I don't believe is when people are so gung ho and getting the money that you miss the opportunities that come.
in that one-on-one, that communication, that soul connection when I think about what God is doing and what he's calling us to do. He's calling us to be light in dark places.
He's calling back to take dominion over the places that the enemy thought that he would take. So when we think about marketing, when we think about that massage parlor, when we think about that nail salon, when we think about that gym that plays that ratchet music that you really want to hear Jackie Hill Perry's latest practice album on repeat versus Kendrick Lamar, all of those things, God's calling it back. And in that message, in that moment, you look at things differently when you look at it being a message.
And I've had to look at this differently in every part of my work. One, every time I get a project, usually before the project, I'm already praying over my projects to say, God, whatever comes in my way this week or in this month, this year, this wherever, let me be open to it. Let me hear, let me have the discernment to know if it's from you or not. Then once I get the project, I go back to God and say, God, just make sure this is alignment. Make sure that the money is not like calling me and we not that hungry to be able to just be taking everything.
Then once I get past those two moments, y'all, this is how we do business together, right? We're praying before the business, we're praying before the projects and the partners and all of the things that are coming our way. Then when we get that thing, we go back to the Lord and say, God, I just want to make sure it's not a counterfeit because the devil likes to come. He likes to come like a light, but he's not. Just be the trickery. And then the third thing I say is, okay, God, how can I be light? How can I spread the message?
How can I go into this and understand who needs your message? And it might not be a testimony, y'all. It could just simply be like, hey, let me connect with you. Let me understand you. Let me figure out. Some people just want to be seen, y'all. Some people just want to have a conversation. Some of us just want, when you think about being a graphics artist or if you're having a coffee shop that you're opening and you start remembering the person's order, then you're like, hey, like,
You said that you were going away this week. How was that? How are your kids doing? And you're making that connection and you're being light. You're being the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. You're being the salt of the earth, to be salty in your message, to be able to say, And then there are leads into, hey, do you know Jesus? Hey, like you're being a connection. You're being a safe space. so being influenced more by the message of who you're touching in your industry versus
Okay, this person is just gonna be another thousand dollar ticket or another thousand dollar a client so that you can get ahead so that you can feel good so that you can make your 200 million dollar notice. And so I think that's where you you hear a little bit of the tension when I'm saying you guys be mindful of these people out here on social media. I'm like you're saying it because I don't know which episode you gonna catch but I want you to be careful of how people are of what's the word God how they're presenting it.
They're presenting it in a way that looks like it's glorifying God, but it's not. It's a way to get you in a way that's like, it's a trap. That's what it is. I see it as like, there was a vision that just came of like, of it being like, like a bear, like a bear claw hidden in camouflage and you're walking and you're being learned and it's literally a trap. And you think it's good because they've sprinkled Jesus or they follow God, but it's like, what is the message?
What are you doing in your business that's actually connecting in time? Are you praying for people? y'all don't want to hear that. Y'all don't want to hear that. You've got clients on your roster that you're like, let me just get this money. Let me just get this done. Let me, but you're not praying for their souls. God is literally waiting for them to come back to him so he can come back and get us. And y'all are out here being not.
praying and we still here in these ghetto lands, in these ghetto lands waiting for God to take us back. And you have people on people in your influence that you're not praying for, for their souls. And God has placed you there on purpose so that they, that you can be the light so that you can pray over their soul. And you don't always have to be making note. I have literal note cards every time I do a project. I'm like, I usually ask God reveal to me who am I supposed to be praying for?
Then I usually have a list of people that I'm like, okay, let me just intercede. It's going to be one of these days. They're going to ask me for something. They're to say something. And I'm just like, okay, let me just be praying for them. Let me hear them. Let me like stand. Let me make time for them. Let me make space for them. But that's how we do kingdom business. If you guys are still tracking. Okay.
We got two more and I'm hoping that this one is really, really going to just tie with you. You're not resting. You're not resting. And so you have all of this, overwhelm and anxiousness. have all of these thoughts. You're confused. You don't know where to go. You don't know how to take your business. You have no strategy. You have no blueprint. you're overwhelmed with the ideal of the decisions that you have to make because you're not.
resting.
This week I want you to dedicate time to rest. And two things you'll notice when you're resting. Time seems to like stop. I feel like I'm in back to the future. I'd be like, what time is it God? I've woken up, I slept, I went skating, I had lunch, I washed my hair and it's only 12 o'clock.
Last night I spent time with the Lord. my gosh, you guys, we watched the, and yes, I'm gonna refer to God and the third person, because I believe that he's with me. He's a man, he walks with me and guides and counsels me. The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe, baby, I cried. There are so many symbols in that movie that just reflected Jesus.
even when Aslan is on that tablet in the stone and it breaks and you've got the two women there, it reminded me of Jesus at the tomb and the two women, Mary, they were just sitting there waiting and they were the first ones to see Jesus. They were the, and those, the two characters in there were the first to see Aslan when he rose. I even thought like how the prophecy had to come with the four people came so Christmas can come because without Christmas we don't have Christ's birth. And then,
without Christ's birth, we don't have the resurrection. Girl, I was boohooing crying. If y'all haven't watched the movie, you should watch it because God has been telling me to watch it. And I was like watching it for another purpose. And I was just like, God, this isn't what I signed up for. But in those moments of rest with the creator, he's able to give me revelation about things.
has nothing to do with my business, but all about my character and how I'm following him and understanding who he is and the sacrifices. Like that's the beautiful thing about rest. Let me not get it twisted with you guys. It's not always about a new revelation, a new business ideal, a new strategy that's going to make you a million dollars or get you a certain way. Sometimes it's just about the rest in your soul. Maybe your soul needs to cry out like David would say. I believe it is in Psalm 66, if I'm correct, somewhere in the Psalms.
Go through the 66 letters and through all of the Psalms to see, Lord, my soul cries out. I lay down and wait because Lord, you sustain me, God. Maybe your heart just needs to cry out to remember that you are the creation and what he did for you, that he would sacrifice himself because you were the traitor in all of it. You were part of the family, but you were the traitor. Y'all, I learned so much from that movie. I can't really wait to read the book. I know I'm behind the times, but-
I challenged yourself to rest this week of whatever that looks like. My rest time with Lord looks like skating, like we go out to eat, we have coffee. Yesterday I had found some people that are starting a new church. God was like, talk to them. I was like, God, I don't want to talk to them. He's like, talk to them. I said, talk to them. And they had asked me, they were like, oh, like who are you? What are you? What do you believe in? And I love those moments with the Lord because there's connections, there's things that like, sometimes it's not about the doing, it's just the becoming.
And in those moments when we rest, we get a chance to become more like God. And this fulfillment that we're chasing after, you start to get poured into and realize that you have so much more than what you think that you don't have. And so the little moments of life and the hummingbirds and the trees and the quiet and the breeze and the slow moments with our heavenly father fulfill and pour back into your cup more than pouring out.
And so it is only the ability for me to sit here and be able to give you content today because I sat with the creator yesterday to be able to, to pray, to be able to just sit in his presence and now connected to him. I'm able to speak good words and be his vessel. You might say, and even in your week to week, I'm going to say if you have the opportunity and not even the opportunity, I'm going to say that you wrestle with the idea.
of this year making a month specific to taking, I call it a sabbatical, a combination of play on Sabbath and sabbatical of combining those two and taking a whole month off. And some of you guys will be like, you're very privileged to do that. Can I tell you that sitting in this apartment, August, 2020, which I was sitting on that couch with not much but my Bible and studying the book of Jude.
and I chose to sit there with the Lord. I think a few offers may have came in, but nothing specific. I was not hunting down anything. I didn't have too much going on, but I had some. Here goes the thing, y'all. Really the wrestle and the privilege is having to fight when people want you in August or your Sabbath month that you've dedicated to the Lord, that you've put aside to say, my priorities, my values.
my focus in the season is to really take that month off for break. And if it doesn't fall in line with that, then I guess it's not meant to be. And so I have to wrestle with that this year of being like, August is going to come and I've got something. And now I'm like talking to you guys, I'm looking through my books. I'm thinking through my books. like, did I take off for August this year? Y'all are like, the Holy Spirit is like convicting me in this moment where I'm like, did I cancel August or do I have some shows in August that I'm not supposed to be doing in August? That's a side note.
That's my own self talking, but it's good to have an accountability partner and you guys are like, take the month off, whatever your month is, figure out a month, be committed to it. This month or this year, didn't take off for August, but I took off for September, or it wasn't September, it was July. And so many things happened in July, you guys. I thought I was going to rest. I was fighting.
I was fighting with myself. I was fighting in a way, not in myself, I was fighting warfare, let's be factual, like in these streets, I was fighting and I thought I was gonna rest and I did not rest. But I'm grateful for the time off and just doing that. And so if we're gonna be leaders, we have to take the time off to get back associated with God. And can I leave you with this too?
if we're going to lead and we're going to take a sabbatical or whatever you decide to do, Sabbath, whatever, can we extend that same grace and mercy to our teammates? Please don't be out here being like, I'm the, you know, and then you put things in place like automations. This is why it's important to have a team and have SOPs and all of these things so that you can actually take the month off. I have not done that. That's not been my, but God has allowed a way. So I know that it's possible and you're able to do it. I'm giving you guys these cheat codes.
so that it's easier for you. But when you're able to do it, allow your teammates to be able to do the same rest. Allow them a month off, allow them a week off, allow them something. They're working for you. You're the leader. You're reflection. The way you lead is how they follow. They see you and you're an inspiration and an encouragement to how they'll do their business and continue and continue and continue. And so you can't be out here saying one thing and like having a totally different way. And they'd be like, yeah, she's cool. She talks, she talks.
She talks a lot about Jesus, but what does my make and model look like? My team, like, I asked my team, like, yo, when, when is your Sabbath? So I can not bother you on your Sabbath. Like, okay, yours is on Saturday. Yours is on Sunday. Okay, cool. I'm not going to bug you guys on that. Those two days. My other person, I was like, Hey, the Lord is nudging me that you need to rest for the next two weeks. Sorry. What? Yeah. You're going to rest. You're not going to do anything for me and I'm not going to request anything and I'm going to do it myself.
And then when we come back after the new year and after the thing, we can get back into business. But the Lord is telling me that we need to rest. That's how we operate y'all. That's how we operate. And then the last thing that I will continuously say, and I'll probably do is like a repetition about like figuring out if your business is failing or succeeding of this identity and resting and.
not getting tired out is your lack of belief of whatever God is calling you to do, right? Talked about this last episode of not allowing the enemy. I mean, even the identity, kind of putting the two together, your identity and your lack of belief, not believing what God has called you to do. I will continue to say that that is the greatest thief to destroy your business.
to cause you to fail is because you don't believe enough of what God had already said. God is not a man that he shall lie. We have proof that when we look at the stars, when we look at the moon, when we look at the sun, that we see that what he said was true from the very beginning and it still holds to be true. And if that is so, and he called you to do what you, then how much more do we need to ask? How many signs like Gideon do we have to ask and throw out our fleece, some of us?
It's the seven and the eight times, the red corvette. Lord, if you just, just one more time today, but guess what? It's not gonna make you move anymore or any less. And so when we failed to believe in who we were always called to become, we failed to believe in the God who created us from the very beginning. And I see God calling Moses.
to be a leader of good speeches, Noah to be an architect that he didn't sign up for, Paul to be a disruptor and a change agent so that people could experience the light, Gentiles, you and me, to experience the light and our lack of understanding and our identity and believing the ideals God gave us will always get in the way of our day to day, our families, our finances, our friends, and even the things that he's called us to do that are greater than that. so, few tips.
Few tips. Yeah, I know. So many things, so many wonderful things. know. I hope this blessed you in the season. And as I've said more, if you're looking for other encouragement, you need a space just to like be in community, space to feel seen, understanding. You want more cheat codes. You're like, girl, like, I want more. I need this type.
If this is really resonating with y'all, like drop a heart in the chat. Please say it's me. I learned so much. Tell me what you learned. Tell me what you're like struggling with in this season as you're combating whatever it is that God is feeling that you feel God is calling to do a new thing. If you want more of this information and insight again, I'll drop it in the description. It's there. Go to our newsletter. Sign up for that. It's called HeyBrit.co forward slash a new thing. One word.
Sign up, newsletters coming to you weekly. And I just pray that it pushes you in a way that your faith becomes big and bold That is not happenstance that the podcast is called Big Bold Faith. But I believe that God is ministering us and being called to do something greater on his behalf. And so of course we gonna pray out.
before we go anywhere. But I pray that this continues to keep you in all your ways. So dear heavenly father, God, I thank you for my failures to be someone else's lessons, to be able to put them in a place, in a space of learning, of experience, of things to do better, that puts them in a place where foundations, where they can have generational wealth, and that includes education.
and not having to go through the years that I lost, Lord, I submit them to you. Lord, I pray, Lord, that the person listening to this that is combating with their identity, combating with doing it alone, combating with not taking risks, God, that you can show your glory, your mercy, your favor on those who listen to your principles and your precepts, God, and that you will be with them, Lord, that you are the great I am, that you are Emmanuel, God, that when we submit our plans, when we put them to your feet,
When we actually faithfully walk it out, God, that you are able to do exceedingly above all that we can think or imagine, God. And I pray just for favor for the person that is listening to this, that needs encouragement, that needs enlightenment, that are just feeling frustrated and agitated, that things aren't working out, God. Lord, that the things that the plans of the enemy that are frustrating, the things that they're trying to do for you, God, I just pray right now that you release it as it is in heaven, shall it be done here on earth, God.
And that you encourage us with a circle of people to do your work and to be light carrier light carriers for the kingdom God. And so we give your name all of the glory and all of the honor and Jesus's name we pray. Amen.
